HIV has impacted every family in Malawi. That is why it is so important to keep working towards elimination of new HIV infections. Improving treatment and care for everyone with HIV is also essential if we want to end the burden that HIV places on our heads and hearts. This effort requires reliable information at every stage. JHP’s Community Engagement Department takes its mission personally - everyone matters. A well-informed Community and the successful conduct of research studies go hand in hand.

The JHP Community Engagement Department helps raise awareness about HIV and the research that fights it. The Department is a warm handshake, an understanding smile, and a listening ear for our research participants and for the Community as a whole. The Department conducts a wide variety of outreach activities in the local Blantyre region including invited educational talks, general information sessions at health fairs or sports events about what research is and why we need it, counseling sessions with research participants, home visits when participants or their families need extra support and participation in local World AIDS Day events.
