The Johns Hopkins Research Project (JHP) – also known as Blantyre Clinical Research Site (CRS) – started in 1988 as a collaboration between the Johns Hopkins University (USA) and the Malawi Ministry of Health. The College of Medicine (COM), University of Malawi joined this collaboration in 1995, four years after COM was established. The long-standing partnership between JHU, the Ministry of Health and the COM has helped to establish a strong and stable presence for JHP in the research community. In May 2021, COM joined forces with Kamuzu College of Nursing and was re-established as Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS).
